So… this was a WOW wedding. Seriously, that is one over the top insane botanical wedding arch! Roger and his team at Haute Flowers did an amazing job with everything. Botanical was definitely the theme of this Black Butte Ranch wedding and I loved it!

Well it seems as though the snow has come and gone for this year, just visiting us in Portland for Christmas eve. I have never been one to long for snow but somehow compared to last year this January doesn’t feel as much like winter. It got me thinking about this beautiful winter wedding styled session I did on Mt. Hood. The lovely Shelley brought out her beautiful wedding dress so we could play in the snow, and I am so happy with the results.

Cannon Beach Photographer – Jaime Kae Hazen’s Rock the Dress Photo Shoot
When Chandra approached me about doing a beach photo shoot with a beautiful flowing dress to celebrate her birthday I was totally stoked! It’s refreshing to see someone excited to celebrate something all their own. All to often women hide behind the camera, avoid spending money on themselves, and don’t enjoy looking at their photos without picking everything apart. Don’t think for a moment that being confident and excited to be who you are is the same as being vain. It’s so not the same!
When Chandra came in to view her images yesterday she was so nervous and afraid of how she’d look in her images, and wouldn’t you know it she was absolutely thrilled with how they came out!
This is the perfect kind of session you can incorporate for high school senior girls, bridal sessions after the wedding, glamour makeovers or just for you anytime you like!

I was lucky enough to be among the group of friends that was present for Jesse’s proposal to Sion. Like many proposals, after a day of failed attempts around the celebration of her birthday, a group of us found ourselves together in their SE Portland home. I remember Jesse showing me the ring in his pocket and saying it was going to happen now. I myself had no idea he was planning things for that day and was so excited to see this happen. Of course she said YES and we spent the rest of the night celebrating.

Veronica and Dale were married at the picturesque Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center. The building stands so strong and made of stone, yet surrounded by beautiful delicate flowers. But the true gem of this venue is in the architecture of the interior ceiling. It made a grand backdrop for the coming together of these two families.

A small intimate wedding with just close friends and family aboard the Portland Spirit. We all enjoyed being carried along the Willamette River and seeing the sites while watching these two say “I do”. We were all excited to help them celebrate the beginning of this new chapter in their lives.
After the wedding we all had a little fun at the front of the boat with the captain. He let Bree-Lyn and Forest take over stirring the boat. Bree-Lyn couldn’t help but giggle as we talked Forest into a photo in the captains hat.

Without a game-plan for documenting the wedding day details, it’s oftentimes easy to get so caught up in the happenings of wedding day that they can easily get lost in the shuffle. As a photographer who prides herself in capturing the raw emotions and being a storyteller of the wedding day, I could easily tell myself that there are more important things than documenting tables, guestbooks, jewelry, etc. But if I did that, I’d be missing an important part of the story. Most of the couples I work with put a lot of time, emotion, and energy into their wedding day details. Many items are handmade and are the result of countless hours of brainstorming and decision-making as the vision for their wedding day develops. Most of these items are sold or discarded after wedding day, and what remains are the memories. I love it when my mom fondly recalls the details of her wedding and the efforts of my grandmother and my nana went to to make the day extra special for my mom. I am forever grateful to my wedding photographer for taking the time to document the many handmade details that I spent way too long making, and I look forward to sharing those memories with my own daughters one day – WITH pictures!
With their seven children combined, the officiant and myself as a witness Regan and Kelly were married on the Oregon Coast not too far from Astoria, Oregon. The weather this year has been much cooler and wetter than usual and made it a challenge to get many photos of them on the beach before their ceremony. By ceremony time the sun was out and we were able to get some gorgeous photos of them on the beach together after they said their “I do’s”.

Sometimes you just gotta cut loose and have some fun at a wedding! I photographed these guys at what was supposed to be a beach wedding in Seaside, but ended up getting rained out. Fortunately, we were able to photograph all of their photos indoors at the Best Western Ocean View in Seaside where they held their reception. I love being able to capture fun and happy moments in between the formal portraits. It’s a good thing they could get their wiggles out before the ceremony!

I first met Daine oh so many years ago not long after graduating high school. He worked with a dear friend of mine and was often one of the singles at group parties…..until one day he walked in the door with Linda. Not only was she beautiful, but smart, and you could see by the way Daine looked at her, this girl was something special.
Over the years our little group has drifted a bit as people got married, changed jobs and had kids. So when an email popped into my inbox from the two of them asking about wedding photography I could not have been more exited! Not only for the two of them, but also for how honored I felt that they thought of me to be a part of this special day in their lives. And a truly special day it was.
We all met ahead of the ceremony at Laurelhurst Park for the first look and some bridal party portraits. When I saw Daine’s reaction to seeing her for the first time, it melted my heart.

The Corvallis Ohana Barn is a beautiful Willamette Valley wedding venue with stunning indoor and outdoor photo opportunities for your wedding photos. The apple orchard made for a romantic backdrop for this couple’s bride and groom portraits as well as some much needed shade on the hot summer day!

I was so proud of Courtney and Nick for doing this beautiful sexy beach session. They are married, first time parents, and still a young couple in love.
Sessions like these are a great way for couples to connect, and have something that is just about them and just for them. This adventurous couple, climbed giant piles of beach wood, braved the ocean water, and bared a little of their hearts to create this images.

I’ve photographed weddings at Cornelius Pass Roadhouse before, but this was the first time I’d gotten to photograph one at Imbrie Hall. It was super-cool!
My favorite moments from this wedding: portraits with Nick & Stephanie for sure – I loved how sweet & comfortable they were (are) together! The bouquet toss. Pictures below. It was epic! The “first” dances – I always enjoy the bride & groom’s first dance. This evening, the father-daughter and mother-son dances were pretty special as well. The crazy cool chandelier didn’t hurt either. And – final favorite – I loved that Stephanie & Nick asked me to photoshop a Gollum & The Ring scene into one of their portraits!

Hannah and Austin accomplished something that leaves me more in awe every time I think about it. They managed to pull off a beautiful farm wedding as parents of a brand new baby. And they did it in a more laid back and relaxed fashion than I could have imagined!
“April showers bring May flowers”, they say. In Oregon sometimes it’s more like “May showers bring June flowers” like with Shaanti and Eire’s wedding at The Foundry at Oswego Pointe in Lake Oswego, Oregon last May. Despite the rain they had a beautiful wedding with lots of color, and the MOST tasty wedding food I’ve ever had! They served brunch for dinner by Pearl Catering, and it was delicious! They even had an crêpe making action station and homemade donuts. Yumm! When you photographing weddings as a career you eat a lot of wedding food. Let me tell you I’ve had some not so great and some really, really great wedding food, and this was one of my all time favorites! When we sit down to eat (if we even get a chance too!) good food can give us photographers the boost we need to get back to capturing our couple’s day. I think it’s safe to say we photographers adore our clients who serve quality and delightful food at their wedding!
Rain didn’t stop us from heading over to nearby Foothills Park for Shaanti and Eire’s first look and fun bridal party portraits. There is a really neat white awning over a platform that overlooks the Willamette River at the park. It was the perfect place to allow us to stay dry and still be able to photograph them and their bridal party outdoors. Perfect!
