mom and toddler blowing bubbles together, laughing Close-up photo of a toddler with berry juice all over his face

There’s a special place in my heart, and in the hearts of most northwesterners, for the summer here in our part of the world.

Oregon summers, although they can mean hot sunny weather, ice cream, and swimming like in many other places, are a special time when families can experience a lot of joy outside together. Summer is berry season. It’s river season. It’s bubble season.

What represents summer in Oregon for your family?

Skamania Lodge Wedding

Um, yes please to more weddings at Skamania Lodge! Melisa and Sal got married on a clear and windy day in front of the  amazing view of the Gorge in Stevenson Washington. I know brides aren’t always thrilled about high winds on their wedding day, but we photographers love it. (Ok, well I shouldn’t speak for all photographers, but I love it). Really, what good is a veil if it just lays there lifeless? I want that thing dancing around in the breeze – Melisa’s veil did not disappoint!

See more photos from this beautiful Gorge wedding at Erica Ann Photography!

I had the honor of photographing Thom and Becca’s wedding. The ceremony and reception was at the beautiful Cape Horn Estates

located in Stevenson, WA. We traveled to the beautiful Beacon Rock which was the a perfect destination for bride and groom

wedding photos. This spring time shoot was perfectly overcast. Heather Fitch Photography is almost fully booked for 2018 but we are

booking for 2019.  You can contact us through Facebook: HF Photography or www.heatherfitchphotography.com

I have been having a blast creating photo mosaics and posting them over time on instagram. You may also know this phenomenon as the “Grid Collage”.

Have you seen this technique and wondered how to make it happen? It takes a little planning, but anyone can learn to do it. How fun would it be to create a grid collage out of one of your own family’s pictures? This article is what got me started: https://thepreviewapp.com/perfectly-split-instagram-grid-4-easy-steps-twigyposts/

As she says at the end of the blog, “This method may sound a little crazy or time consuming…and it can certainly feel that way in the beginning.  But, I promise you.  Once you get the hang of it…you will love it!”. She was not joking…

Discovering this way of posting was what got me hooked on instagram. It’s so much fun! If this kind of photo geek-ery tickles you as much as it does me, maybe you’ll join me! See what other antics I’ve been up to. :)

Tulip Festival Bridal Shoot I just went to the Woodburn Tulip for the first time and it was gorgeous! I got to do a bridal photoshoot for Billy and Karen for their pre-wedding photos. They’re having a big reception in Hong Kong this fall so we took photos to display on an easel and in albums at their wedding reception. It was so much fun just wandering around the acres of tulips. I wish tulips were around longer than just a month or so each year, they’re so beautiful! Congratulations Karen and Billy, I’m so excited to get your double volume albums printed! See the rest here at Erica Ann Photography!

Bride and groom embraced in a dip while kissing at a summer sunset wedding. The beautiful blue and purple sunset behind them at The Troutdale House by the Sandy River.

Summer Sunset Wedding Photography

I love summer sunsets in Portland! A better yet are sunset weddings!

I was on the Crystal Dolphin for a wedding last night and there was a beautiful sunset and it has me so excited for the summer.

I also couldn’t help but think of this amazing sunset at Lindsay and Steven’s wedding.  Their wedding took place at The Troutdale House by the Sandy River.  We were actually all done with taking portraits for the day and were well into the reception when I ran out to my car. When I turned around I saw this amazing sunset. I ran inside and told the couple to just give me 10 minutes and they wouldn’t regret it.

And they didn’t!

This image became a large canvas for the wall in their home and the sister image to this is the front of their wedding album.

While this summer is almost booked we do have a couple dates left, contact Photography by Cambrae about booking your own sunset wedding portrait session via our website www.photographybycambrae.com or call us at (503) 706-0130.

Mom flying toddler/baby through the air while his Mama watches, laughing

Every time you point your camera, you’re about to tell a story. What story do you want to tell? This image is all about the fast life of a toddler. Boundless energy shows on his face, while his moms, positioned behind him, are clearly happy…and just a touch exhausted. 😂

former professional ballerina walks through the surf at Manzanita Beach

This is a throwback to last summer. I really wanted to share this image, because it feels like she is leading us into the summer <3 I love how her bright orange dress contrasts the blue sky.

The subject of this image is a woman who was a professional ballerina when she was younger. I had so much fun spending time watching her grace of movement in this magnificent location that just happens to be special to her heart.

California Beach Wedding Yes! Aaron and Ann’s wedding was so much fun and so completely gorgeous. I’ve known Aaron since college and I cannot think of a better match than beautiful Ann! These two are both in the navy  – I loved all of the traditions and navy wedding decor. Check out more photos of this gorgeous wedding at Erica Ann Photography!

Portland photo booth rental company includes guestbooks, sequin backdrops, and photo books as add-ons to your booking.

Have you wondered why photo booths have become all of the rage at weddings lately? Here are a few of the many reason’s why it’s a good move to add one to your party entertainment for your wedding day…

  1. RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF FUN – Your guests will surely be entertained at your wedding with a photo booth! At every event we do and the thousands of photographs taken you always see smiles, creativity and often some shenanigans ensue in every capture. It doesn’t take long for the line to form and everyone is wanting to get into the next photo. Not every one will cut a rug on the dance floor, but most everyone will pose for a silly photo booth pic with their BFF or their favorite Aunt at the wedding.
  2. GOOD CLEAN FUN FOR ALL AGES – From infants to grandparents, at all of our events, everyone has a great time! We also love being able to send home all of the kids that use our booth their very own print for their wall at home and one for their parents for the fridge.
  3. A GREAT TIME FILLER – Need to keep people occupied while you and the bridal party are taking photos with the professional photographer? Having a photo booth ready to keep everyone busy means they won’t be standing around wondering how much longer until the party gets started…it’s already begun and you haven’t even been announced by the DJ yet!
  4. KEEPSAKES FOR YOUR GUESTS…

Emily Hall Photography - Wedding!-1029 copy

Normally, I can caption a photo. Over here at Emily Hall Photography, I pride myself in being the funniest person in the (admittedly lightly staffed) office. It’s not always the perfect caption, but usually, I can come up with something at least mildly witty. Today, not so much. So, I…crowd-sourced it, and here’s what I got:
-Oh… the LEFT hand!
-Pure joy, the very best way to start a marriage! Pure joy the best way to maintain a healthy marriage.
-Love and laughter as they start their happily ever after…
-Knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with you makes me so happy!
-Just one of the many smiles we get to share over the course of our marriage, priceless!
Let’s laugh our way through life together

How would YOU caption this photo? Keep in mind that these two people are AWESOME. Bring your best stuff!

Two preschool boys wearing bright colored red and yellow snow suits play in the snow outside in a portland oregon park

Snow is rare in the Northwest. So when there’s snow – even if it’s just half an inch – there’s no messing around!

It’s all or nothing.

Snow in Portland is a precious commodity. We’re lucky to get a day or two of playable snow in an entire winter. Last year, the snow was too powdery to make into snowballs or snow men, and then it turned into ice for days on end. So imagine the delight for kids this year when the perfect packable snow fell and stuck right here in PDX!

Last year, at just over 2, the little guy in red was VERY skeptical of snow. He was ok with being pulled in a sled, but did not really want to stand in the snow, even with boots on. The year before, he was horrified by it. It was tantrum-inducing and not at all intriguing. This year he’s all in – feet first, face first, it doesn’t really matter! Without a question, he and one of his best buddies ran out and started playing hard. And I was lucky enough to be invited to witness the joy.

Amy and Tyler’s wedding flowers didn’t arrive in time for the wedding because of a hurricane in Texas last year, but that didn’t stop them from having the best wedding possible!

Even without their chosen wedding flowers, Amy and Tyler still managed to have a wedding that hit all the right notes in Astoria, Oregon at The Loft at the Red Building!

As a Portland wedding photographer I’ve seen it all at weddings! Couples who are calm and almost zen-like, stressed, and everything in between. I’ve curated a list of tips and things to keep in mind to help you keep it all in check and be sure you have the best wedding day possible without letting petty things bother you.

Everyone dreams of a wedding day with no hiccups, setbacks or stress. Which is why the reality can sometimes be a let down. But don’t despair! With my years of experience shooting weddings, I know my way around stressful days. So repeat after me: Calm, serene, peaceful…calm, serene, peaceful…

Sometimes at the Pacific Northwest weddings it rains (shocker!!) when we really want the sun. Sometimes the florist brings the wrong color flowers. And sometimes your flower girl just doesn’t want to be sweet and instead wants to test out her lungs in the form of an epic tantrum.

Sweltering heat and power outages were in the cards for Meghan and Ryan’s wedding at The Ohana Barn in Corvallis Oregon. This didn’t stop them, not even for a moment, from smiling and having an amazing time at their wedding. They knew what they were there for…to celebrate their love and commitment to each other in marriage.

Meghan and Ryan embraced sweltering heat and power outages at their Ohana Barn wedding in Corvallis, Oregon. But it didn’t phase them! They knew exactly what their day was about: love, commitment, and marriage.

So, what are you supposed to do?

Here are my best tips:

  • Keep it in Perspective! The flower girl screaming is going to make a hilarious story when she’s 17 and trying to be the coolest kid ever. And, really, orange flowers instead of yellow won’t ruin your entire day. You’re there to get married, to have a great party, and commit to your best friend. Remember to take a deep breath and focus on the actual priorities of the day.
  • Have A Plan! Make sure you know who’s supposed to where and when. Oh! And make sure they know where they’re supposed to be and when. It’s easier to redirect one person than it is to try and herd a whole group! Better yet, make sure your photographer has worked a solid plan out for you, knows the schedule, and is able to help you stick to it.
  • Keep Calm and…Delegate! Don’t try to do it all. You and your love are beautifully dressed and ready to have that calm, serene, and peaceful day we just discussed. In the words of Taylor Swift: shake it off…and delegate! Your wedding party is there to support you in your quest to have the best wedding day ever, use that support and love.
Mallori and Tyler had a very windy and foggy wedding on the beach in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. They didn’t get to choose the weather, but they still chose to embrace it and make the best of the situation. I love the clean look and feel of wedding photos on the beach when it’s completely socked in with fog and clouds.

Mallori and Tyler had a very windy and foggy wedding on the beach in Rockaway Beach, Oregon. It wasn’t exactly the ideal condition but the result was beautiful soft skies and an album filled with moments that highlighted their emotion and love.
