While my specialty is in-home documentary family photography, that does not mean we spend the entire session at home! A session takes place wherever you normally spend time. Often a session will start at home but then will incorporate a family outing. The key is it is something you would be doing anyway, even if I was not there. You can see more of this awesome session documenting a normal Sunday afternoon by checking out Lacey Monroe Photography’s blog.
The kitchen truly is the heart of the home. It always ends up being the place where everyone congregates- to talk, to unwind, to eat, to bond as a family. If you want the your family to be documented in an artistic and authentic way contact Lacey Monroe Photography and book your session.
The moments that make up your real life all too often go undocumented. I photograph the little things that happen day in and day out, such as tying a shoe. Years later this daily ritual of life with little kids will be gone. However, if you invest in documentary family photography now you will always have the photographs to remember when.
As we dine on Thanksgiving leftovers recalling all that we are thankful for, we can’t help but think of our ever growing to-do lists. However, so many things on that list are more than simple to-dos, they are family traditions: from picking out a Christmas tree, baking cookies, putting up decorations, to so much more that make this time of year special. To have your holiday traditions artistically documented contact Lacey Monroe Photography and schedule your session.
If photographs that show your family as they really are and tell a story are more important to you than a posed photo in a random location (that looks pretty, but, let’s be honest, you have no actual connection to), then contact Lacey Monroe Photography to schedule your documentary family photography session.
Did you know that the newest trend in photography is hiring a professional to document your vacation? What a great way to preserve those special memories! If you have family vacation on the calendar, contact Lacey Monroe Photography to schedule your vacation photography session.
Autumn is upon us and with that comes cooler weather, changing leaves, apples, pumpkins, and making the most of the outdoors before the deluge of rain hits us this winter. What are your family’s favorite Fall activities? Have them artistically documented by storytelling Portland photographer Lacey Monroe. I loved this documentary family session! It is so great to hang out with a family at home and capture their daily routines; although, I must say, getting to spray dad with water probably doesn’t happen just any day.

The home is the unmentioned, yet ever present, member of the family. It’s where our memories are made. It is a witness to the good times and the bad. It’s where we grow. It’s where we love. It’s where we can truly be ourselves. When I learned that this family of 6 was packing up and selling their home I jumped at the opportunity to document their last day there. The boxes mostly packed. The rooms empty. Just them and their home. One last time. Saying goodbye.

Katie and Kim took their pup Stu down to the Sellwood Riverfront Park for their maternity session. They were able to just relax and enjoy the quiet on the river, an activity that will be a lot harder to manage with baby. See more of these maternity photos on the Portland riverfront at Lacey Monroe Photography.
Do you remember this cute maternity session? If you want to see the full maternity session is over on Lacey Monroe’s blog.
