Indian weddings are full of so many details and beautiful colors, and you want to make sure to capture every one! This award-winning moment tells so much as the bride performs her puja (prayers) before meeting the groom for the wedding ceremony. Studio Varnika specializes in Indian weddings and loves to photograph ethnic weddings! Check out more of our artistic wedding photojournalism which features all kinds of weddings!

I was contacted recently by local Portland theater actress Annie Ganousis for casting headshots–- she saw my photography and thought that I would capture her personality perfectly! She asked for two photos: one to capture her beautiful smile, and the other with a serious, more intense look. Check out more of Studio Varnika’s Portraits & Headshots, which are a bit different from my artistic wedding photojournalism!

Anyone who knows my work knows that I’m such a sucker for awesome moments! Stephanie and Grant are such a fun, easygoing couple, and Grant wasn’t afraid to belt out “All of Me” along with the music for their first dance! Check out this McMenamins Sandtrap Oregon Coast wedding and their beautiful day, including sunset portraits on the beach. Check out more moments by Portland Wedding photographer Studio Varnika!

This Lumos Winery wedding has it all! Forest views from pine and oak groves, lavender fields, and of course the beautiful vineyard setting a backdrop for everything. There were so many beautiful DIY details made by Chloe’s family, a very touching ceremony in which Brian played guitar, and a dance reception that was so energetic that a plate fell off the bar! Oh, and can’t forget to mention the awesome glowstick exit!

This is why I love photographing weddings– it’s all about the little moments of joy between the couple and their loved ones that tell the story better than any portraits ever could! As Chloe got ready to meet Brian for their first look, her bridesmaid helped her touch up her makeup and this delightful moment happened! I haven’t gotten around to blogging the full wedding yet, but promise to do so for my next post. Check out my site for more awesome wedding photos by this Portland photographer!

Ashley had me do maternity photos for her fourth (and last!) baby, and I helped her with picking out several outfits and bedding to best highlight the soft, romantic vibe of their English cottage bedroom. I love it when clients get professional hair and make-up done as it really brings out the best of their natural beauty! We had so much fun getting photos with her other kids before we focused on her lovely maternity photos— check out the link to see more of this awesome session!

It’s almost Easter and the flowers are blooming and so lovely! Sofia is a very old friend and I took these portraits of her and her daughter while visiting the SF Bay area last year in a little area surrounded by cherry blossom petals at their apartment complex. Lorelai brought along an Easter bunny friend and wore ruby red shoes (just like Dorothy’s), and we found a hummingbird nest with tiny little chicks waiting to be fed!

When people think of Indian weddings, they think bright, vibrant colors and lots of dancing and activity, and this beautiful Indian wedding was no exception to the stereotype! This wedding took place in Austin TX, where I lived for many years, and will gladly travel there for other weddings :)

Winter in Portland may not be as lush and green as it is most of the year, but it means that the parks are quiet and makes for a lovely backdrop for your photos! Adreanna and David won a portrait session from me at a charity auction last winter, and their couples session turned into an engagement session as David proposed shortly before he left for military duty. I loved taking photos of this sweet couple and you can see more of my engagement sessions on my blog!

There’s nothing quite like ringing in the New Year with a wedding, especially a family one! My cousin’s wedding in Toronto last year was a great time, and while I was attending as a guest, I took some photos for them, too. Sometimes a framed moment like this one is all you need to remember the fun and crazy antics of everyone waiting for the New Year’s countdown!

This is what happens when you ask a good friend to be your officiant, and he asks if he can sprinkle “a bit” of water on you! My little sister got soaking wet, but luckily it was a hot day and she didn’t mind. Check out her amazingly fun wedding— I travel to the San Francisco Bay Area with minimal travel fees for weddings because any excuses to see my little sis is a good one :)
