The Red Thread – An Adoption Story

twelve bridges photography

In Chinese & Japanese folklore, an invisible red thread is said to connect people destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it never breaks. The adoption community has commonly used this term to describe the bond between a child and their adoptive parents. I love the idea that this thread extends to adoptive siblings, as well.
