former professional ballerina walks through the surf at Manzanita Beach

This is a throwback to last summer. I really wanted to share this image, because it feels like she is leading us into the summer <3 I love how her bright orange dress contrasts the blue sky.

The subject of this image is a woman who was a professional ballerina when she was younger. I had so much fun spending time watching her grace of movement in this magnificent location that just happens to be special to her heart.

Girl in a pink dress on the rocky cliff beach. Cannon Beach photographer captures beach session at Indian Beach in Ecola State Park.

Cannon Beach Photographer – Jaime Kae Hazen’s Rock the Dress Photo Shoot

When Chandra approached me about doing a beach photo shoot with a beautiful flowing dress to celebrate her birthday I was totally stoked! It’s refreshing to see someone excited to celebrate something all their own. All to often women hide behind the camera, avoid spending money on themselves, and don’t enjoy looking at their photos without picking everything apart. Don’t think for a moment that being confident and excited to be who you are is the same as being vain. It’s so not the same!

When Chandra came in to view her images yesterday she was so nervous and afraid of how she’d look in her images, and wouldn’t you know it she was absolutely thrilled with how they came out!

This is the perfect kind of session you can incorporate for high school senior girls, bridal sessions after the wedding, glamour makeovers or just for you anytime you like!

Check out this beautiful wall arrangement from Chandra’s session that can be ordered in canvas, metal or wood prints. Worried about what people might think about you putting art of yourself on the wall? Why??? That says more about them and their insecurities than it does about you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Choose to be happy and confident, that’s what matters!

Liz didn’t want the traditional style headshots for her new business venture (the exact nature of the venture is a secret for now!). We sat down and discussed the vision she had for her business and I designed a shoot that would produce images to come in line with that vision. She wanted something that reflected both her relational personality as well as her urban, modern style. You can check out more from Catalina Jean Photography by clicking here.

I was contacted recently by local Portland theater actress Annie Ganousis for casting headshots–- she saw my photography and thought that I would capture her personality perfectly! She asked for two photos: one to capture her beautiful smile, and the other with a serious, more intense look. Check out more of Studio Varnika’s Portraits & Headshots, which are a bit different from my artistic wedding photojournalism!
